As an active volunteer in education, Karie currently works as a classroom aide, serves on the Consultative Board for a local school, and is on the Advisory Board for the “University of California Riverside, Design Thinking Executive Program.”

Previously, Karie served in both product development and marketing roles. In her last position, she served as Chief Academic Office, managing the Education Division, the Academic Officer Team, and freelance presenters for an educational publisher. As CAO for the company, Karie grew new and existing markets and generated revenue by building partnerships with customers at the district and state level. In conjunction with the company and department goals, she developed functions of the department, and she facilitated the professional growth of the division’s human resources. Karie actively recruited and trained both internal and freelance human resources to fulfill the functions of the division, including presenters and authors. During her tenure, Karie led the development and writing of professional learning plans and presentations, Requests for Proposals, grants, curriculum adoption submissions, curriculum maps (alignments and correlations), sales training, sales presentations, marketing tools, research pilots, and Education Division market reports. She also supported the editorial department by conceptualizing and consulting on new products.

Moreover, she was responsible for consulting with school districts and key customers, both domestically and internationally, designing long-term professional development plans, conducting research pilots, and facilitating large-scale product implementations, with a focus on using data-driven and standards-based instructional methods.

Before entering the educational publishing industry, Karie was a teacher in Wisconsin and Florida. During her time with Florida's Miami-Dade County Public Schools, she designed and facilitated science and math parent workshops. Her exceptional teaching style and hard work were recognized when the Miami Herald Newspaper honored her as the City of Miami “Super Teacher for 2003.”  Ms. Gladis’ Action Research, "Changing Parental Perceptions of Math and Science through Hands-On Workshops," was presented at the Urban Education Expo under Dr. Delia Garcia, Florida International University.
